9:28p - Games in the media.. Again.
Manhunt 2 banned: IGN / BBC.
- First game to be banned in the UK since Carmageddon 10 years ago.. Haha. Doesn't surprise me at all. Read this and you probably won't be either. Saying that, I don't think it should be banned, I mean, its very honest about what it is, and they should be able to slap a certificate on it. Ho-hum. It is in new territory though, torturing people with wii-remote motions is asking for trouble given the machine's current demographic. :/ The PS2 version is getting banned too because of content, sadistic violence, blah blah.. I'm glad they don't ban films much anymore, but wish they'd at least be consistent between the mediums. How many films, books and songs are there about sadistic murdering? Hmm.
If it gets good reviews, it could push me further toward getting the Wii mod-chipped. Our shitty Euro release schedule was already pushing me that way anyway.. We've only recently got some of the US *launch* titles ffs.
I got Rule Of Rose (PS2), and am making sure to complete it before writing too much about it. I ranted about it here and here. And sofar (7 hrs in) - the Video Standards Council were right, there is nothing in the game worth the controversy, and almost everything negative said about it is based on lies. The game isn't that bad at all compared to half the games that get 18 certs. It doesn't glorify anything, and as OTT and creepy it is, its often very clever.
Oh, and talking about The Church not being able to tell the difference between fact and fiction.. The mess over Resistance: FOM was a joke. Hopefully it sold more copies from the publicity.
current mood: okay current music: FUNKY DEALER - HIDEKI NAGANUMA (comment on this)
