11:57p - Crap.
The good thing about macs is they don't break!

APART FROM WHEN THEY DO

"It just works!"

Apart from when it doesn't...

I'm aware on average a mac's life span is much longer than a PCs, and they stay usable for longer, and they're just.. Nicer. They're stable as hell more intuitive, in a lot of ways faster. I know they're actually pretty good value when compared like-for-like with PCs, yadda yadda.. I love my mac, which is one reason this hurts so much..

Last month my HD crashed. I lost almost everything. Recently I got over that, basically reinstalled everything. I was still missing some work etc, but "no big deal."

Today - My new, replacement HD died. I'm not talking "some data has gone!" or.. "Oh my! I may have to reformat!" I'm talking "FUCK!! THIS DRIVE IS COMPLETELY USELESS NOW!" In exactly the same way the last one was. Only difference being this drive sounds more like a printer, while the other sounded like a floppy drive! Why my HDs can't sound LIKE HDS... AND WORK.. Is anyone's guess.

Suspicious? Hell yes. It's not very likely 2 unrelated crashes, I have to face the fact that - My G4 powermac is knackered and untrustworthy. It eats perfectly good drives for breakfast, but in a completely unpredictable manner. (works Fiiiine, smooth.. lovely for a month then BAM.. Dead) Ok, I've put some pretty reject hardware in it in the past, and it's possible this is all partially my fault. But.. JEEZ.

Not happy. (I've come back to writing this after a long break - I'm a hell of a lot less non-happy now. I'm town between both.. unhappy and rather excited, Err) There is light at the end of the tunnel though, a big huge light. I'm not going to talk about it yet though. Umm, thanks to [info]theflyingteapot and Martin though. Best. Parents in law. Evar!
